WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING ARP ODYSSEYS FOR INSTALLATION OF THE LUMINA UPGRADE

We are now accepting Odysseys for repair and restoration. However, we are only accepting Odysseys for repair and restoration that incorporate the slider upgrade or “Lumina.” This is due to the unreliability of the original Odyssey sliders. More information below.

STANDARD UPGRADES

(no machining of the front panel)

 

FILTER UPGRADE - (4075) - FOR MODELS 2811 thru 2823 - 79.00

Odyssey 2 filters have a upper frequency limit of 11khz! This frequency response upgrade is similar to the 2600 filter upgrade extending the cutoff frequency range from 11khz to 28khz. This upgrade also replaces some critical components in the signal path. Your filter sub-module is removed, tested, upgraded, re-tested and re-installed into main board "C".

 

POWER SUPPLY REBUILD - ALL MODELS - 69.00

Certain critical components in your power supply have a shelf / working life of 20 years maximum. It's probably time your power supply was rebuilt. These units are getting very old, so if you are serious about your ARP, you should get the Power Supply Rebuild.

 

LUMINA SLIDER UPGRADE - 2800 thru 2813 - 1150.00, all others - 950.00

This upgrade includes 34 high quality sliders featuring super smooth action with high accuracy. These highly stable illuminated sliders transform your unreliable old doorstop into a precision instrument on par with the ARP 2600. The difference in reliability and accuracy is astonishing! The illumination is optional and the color coded sliders are clearly visible without the illumination. The installed price includes the "wall wart" power supply for the illumination.

This mod also features optional dynamic function of the LEDs in the LFO, ADSR and AR sections. The LFO rate is indicated by a flashing LFO slider. The ADSR and AR sliders conveniently reflect the envelope generator output voltages. This also gives you helpful visual feedback when triggering the unit from an external source.

MAJOR UPGRADES FOR THE ARP ODYSSEY:

 

AUDIO PATH UPGRADE V2.0 - ALL MODELS - 2800 thru 2813 -125.00, all others 99.00

This mod replaces critical signal path components in the synthesizer section of your Odyssey with audiophile grade components. Low end response is improved resulting in a more accurate wave shape. High end response is also Improved. This mod now includes a high-pass filter bypass switch. Analysis using a good quality oscilloscope on the output of a stock Odyssey reveals that when the high-pass filter slider is all the way down, the circuitry is still removing quite a bit of low end from the signal path.

 

LFO FREE RUN SWITCH - ALL MODELS - 2800 thru 2813 - 69.00, all others 59.00

It's impossible to get a slow moving sweep on the LFO while playing your Odyssey's keyboard. The LFO also re-triggers on incoming external gate signals from a remote keyboard. When this switch is in the "free run" position, the keyboard and the extenal gate input will not restart the LFO as with stock units.

 

EG TIME EXPANDER SWITCH - ALL MODELS - 2800 THRU 2813 - 79.00, all others 69.00

This mod installs a professional grade miniature toggle switch (the exact model used in the 2500 modules) in your Odysseys AR or ADSR section that speeds up the time constant on the envelope generator to attain 2600 type percussive envelopes. This upgrade now features a 3 position switch with an extra slow mode for extended attack, decay and release times. Now available for the AR generator.

 

REAR PANEL INTERFACE JACKS - FOR THE 2800 ONLY - 179.00

Professionally installed CV, gate and trigger inputs and outputs for the 2800 Odyssey using 1/8th inch Switchcraft jacks. The interface is functional with only CV and gate inputs if desired. This new and improved CMS upgrade features high speed operation of the gate and trigger input signals eliminating the latency problem inherent in the old ARP retrofit for the 2800. If you have the factory interface installed already, we can update it to our high speed version for $89.00

 

POWER SUPPLY UPGRADE - ALL MODELS - 279.00

The existing power supply in your Odyssey is underpowered. Upgrading the power supply will improve oscillator stability and reduce cross talk between audio circuits. We remove your stock power supply and install an oversize, high current, fast response time, low noise, power supply to supply plenty of clean current to your system. This power supply can also easily supply the additional current needed for the Lumina illuminated sliders eliminating the need for the external wall wart.

LUMINA SLIDER UPGRADE KIT - ALL MODELS - 379.00 USD.

The kit includes: 34 high quality illuminated slide pots, 10 custom designed printed circuit boards, high quality connectors and all the additional parts needed for complete installation including our 14 page instruction manual.The kit now features a blinking LFO slider indicating the LFO rate. The ADSR and AR sliders now feature dynamic LED readout of the envelope generator voltage levels!

The wall wart power supply for the illumination is not included in the kit and is available from Jameco Electronics for 7.99 USD.

WARNING: This kit is not just a set of sliders! This kit is complicated and is intended to be installed by professionals. Removing the original sliders without damaging the printed circuit boards requires a competent tech. Without professional equipment and experience, it can be difficult to remove the original ARP sliders without pulling up the copper traces and causing irreparable damage to your instrument. This is particularly true when de-soldering the double sided printed circuit board "B" in early Odysseys model 2800. Relocating components and installation of the adapter boards is complicated and requires a professional. Your machine should be fully functional before installing this kit since certain sections may be more difficult to service after installation. CMS/Discrete Synthesizers will not be held responsible for damages resulting from the incorrect installation of this kit. CMS reserves the right to refuse service of botched installations. If you are unsure about your technicians ability and equipment, you should send the unit to CMS for the Lumina Upgrade.

PITCH BEND KNOB - FOR THE 2800 ONLY - 16.00

The 2800 rotary pitch bend knob is again available. Brand new, genuine original equipment. Also used on the 3620 keyboard and several 2500 modules. Limited quantities available.
