AVATAR LUMINA SLIDER UPGRADE - 950.00

This upgrade includes 34 high quality sliders featuring super smooth action with high accuracy. These highly stable illuminated sliders transform your unreliable old doorstop into a precision instrument on par with the ARP 2600. The difference in reliability and accuracy is astonishing! The LFO slider features a LED driver circuit that indicates the LFO rate. The LEDs in the ADSR and AR sliders also have on-board driver circuits that indicate the output voltages of each envelope generator. The envelope generator LEDs can be wired to be constantly on, if so desired. The illumination is optional and the color coded sliders are clearly visible without the illumination.

The installed price includes the "wall wart" power supply for the illumination. The wall wart power supply is not necessary if you get the Guitar-ectomy. The installed price does not include any other parts, repair and restoration your Avatar may need.

This Lumina is designed specifically for the Odyssey. At this time, only the sliders in the synthesizer section on the right, and the portamento slider on the left, are replaced. the 3 additional sliders in the output mixer section unique to the Avatar are not replaced. If you do not use the guitar section of your Avatar, the output mixer should be eliminated from the signal path due to excessive noise. See below for the "Guitar-ectomy".

AVATAR PATCH POINT UPGRADE V2.0 - 1050.00

Realize the full possibilities of your Avatar with this unique super mod by CMS. All inputs and outputs are made accessible 2600 style using high quality Switchcraft 1/8" jacks. Version 2.0 features all outputs and inputs at 10v nominal levels identical to the ARP 2600 and ARP 2500! Need more VCO's for your 2600? Turn your Avatar into a 2600 expander. Includes front mounted CV, Gate and trigger input jacks. Includes a 1/4 inch front mounted, line level, audio input jack. The Guitar-ectomy is required for this mod. Not Available as a kit. Not available for the Odyssey.

FILTER UPGRADE - 79.00

Avatar filters have a upper frequency limit of 11khz! This frequency response upgrade is similar to the 2600 filter upgrade extending the cutoff frequency range from 11khz to 28khz. This upgrade also replaces some critical components in the signal path. Your filter sub-module is removed, tested, upgraded, re-tested and re-installed into main board "C".

AUDIO PATH UPGRADE V2.0 - 99.00

This mod replaces critical signal path components in the synthesizer section of your Avatar with audiophile grade components. Low end response is improved resulting in a more accurate wave shape. This mod now includes a high-pass filter bypass switch. Even when the high-pass filter slider is all the way down, it's still removing quite a bit of low end from the signal path. This mod used to be called the "Low end wave correction mod" in the early days of CMS. High end response is also Improved.

LFO FREE RUN SWITCH - 59.00

It's impossible to get a slow moving sweep on the LFO while controlling the Avatar from a remote keyboard. When this switch is in the free run position, the keyboard will not restart the LFO as with stock units.

ADSR TURBO SWITCH - 69.00

This mod installs a switch in your Avatars ADSR section that engages the turbo mode speeding up the time constant on the ADSR to attain 2600 type percussive envelopes. This upgrade now features a 3 position switch with an extra slow mode for extended attack, decay and release times. Also available for the AR generator.

PORTAMENTO ENABLE - 89.00

Stock Avatars have their portamento circuits hard-wired to the guitar section. This mod rewires the portamento so that it slews the keyboard cv input.

GUITAR-ECTOMY - 159.00

Drastically improve the audio performance of your ARP Avatar. This upgrade is specifically designed for the many Avatar users who never use the guitar section of their instrument and are desiring the best audio performance possible. The output mixer section of a stock Avatar has a ridiculous signal to noise ratio and a terrible slew rate. We eliminate the entire output mixer section and give you a low noise, high level output directly from the synthesizer. We also wire up a low noise external audio input jack as well. We remove all the guitar circuitry and rewire your power distribution harness to supply more clean power to your synthesizer section improving stability and reducing cross talk between circuits. If you don't use the guitar pickup, this upgrade is a MUST!

POWER SUPPLY REBUILD - 79.00

Certain critical components in your power supply have a shelf / working life of 20 years maximum. It's probably time your power supply was rebuilt. These units are getting very old, so if you are serious about your ARP, you should get the Power Supply Rebuild.

The wall wart power supply for the illumination is not included in the kit and is available from Jameco Electronics for 7.99 USD.

WARNING: This kit is not just a set of sliders! This kit is complicated and is intended to be installed by professionals. Removing the original sliders without damaging the printed circuit boards requires a competent tech. Without professional equipment and experience, it can be difficult to remove the original ARP sliders without pulling up the copper traces and causing irreparable damage to your instrument. Relocating components and installation of the adapter boards is complicated and requires a professional. Your machine should be fully functional before installing this kit since certain sections may be more difficult to service after installation. CMS/Discrete Synthesizers will not be held responsible for damages resulting from the incorrect installation of this kit. CMS reserves the right to refuse service of botched installations. If you are unsure about your technicians ability and equipment, you should send the unit to CMS for the Lumina Upgrade.
